Who I am
Being the proverbial ‘girl between two seas’, my journey started on the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago in 1997. In 2003 at the age of 6, I moved halfway across the world to another island, this time an island kingdom called Bahrain, meaning two seas in Arabic. There I spent my childhood and adolescence immersed in a multicultural melting pot.
Having been educated at a prestigious British international school I was quickly thrust into a system that was not always fair to someone like me. Still, the lessons learnt both in and out of classrooms helped shape a unique perspective and I graduated in 2015 with both GCSE’s and A-levels under my belt.
After moving to Portsmouth in the UK to study Law with a focus on international relations at in 2016 I learned more about what it meant to belong and more importantly, what it meant to belong as an immigrant. Having spent the better part of a decade in the UK, I have also had to grapple with the everchanging concept of what home means to me.
A lot of my work explores this concept and attempts to deconstruct it.
I am currently employed full time as a caseworker at Citizens Advice whilst writing and art are saved for my free time. Currently, I am working on a novel.
